"He
is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life,
his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true to the last
beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion."

us but will forever remain in our hearts.
All financial contributions made in your friends name will go to help
other dogs who desperately need your help.
Dolly
When I took you in, I was to be your foster Mom but soon became your forever Momand decided from the start that anyone trying to hurt you again would have to gop through me and with every hug and kiss I gave you that some of the bad stuff would go away.
I knew because of your age (12 1/2 - 13 yrs) we would not have a long time together and so told myself that if I could give you a GOOD six months that would be more than most had given you. In the time we had, you had not only one but two more safe places (Grandma & Grandpa's and Nancy's) where you could live out your final days and you were given tons of love, hugs and kisses and treats.
We ended up having only five wonderful months together but in that time you became my girl. You went from your ears hanging low , cowering in your crate, or hiding behind me to your ears pouinted high, walking beside me , and even standing in front of me when we went for our walks and met up with neighbours. You loved your car rides, your "sister" Dakota and didn't even mind those crazy kitties you lived with.
My decision to let you go was difficult but I did not want you to be in pain.
My "Dolly Dumpling", you were only in my life a short time but you will be with me and in my heart always.

"Good Bye”
I wanted you for life
You and me in the wind
I never thought there’d come a time
When our story would end
It’s hard to understand
But I guess I’ll have try
It’s not easy
To Say
Good Bye
For all the joy we shared
All that time we had to spare
Now if I had one wish
I’d want forever back again
To look into your eyes
And hold you when you cried
It’s not easy
To say
Good Bye
I can remember all those great times we had
There were so many memories, some good, some bad
Yes, and through it all
Those memories will last
Forever
There’s peace in where you are
Maybe all I need to know
And if I listen to my heart
I’ll hear your laughter once more
And so I’ve got to say
I’m just glad you came my way
It’s not easy
To Say
Good Bye

THE SPIRIT OF A LABRADOR
I
was standing on a hillside
In a field of blowing wheat
And the spirit of my Labrador Dog
Appeared suddenly at my feet.
She looked at me with kind dark eyes
An ancient wisdom shining through
And in the essence of her being
I saw her love for me too.
Her mind did lock upon my heart
As I stood there on that day.
Then she told me of this story
About a place so far away.
I stood upon that hillside
In a field of blowing wheat
And in a twinkling of a second
Her spirit left my feet
Her tale put my heart at ease
My fears did fade away
She helped me know where she had gone
When she left me on that day.
"I live among God's creatures now
In the heavens of your mind
So do not grieve for me my friend
As I am with my kind.
My collar is a rainbow's hue
My leash a shooting star
My boundaries are the Milky Way
Where I sparkle from afar.
There are no pens or kennels here
For I am not confined
But free to roam God's heavens
Among my Labrador kind.
I nap the day on a snowy cloud
Gentle breezes rocking me
And dream the dream of earthlings
And how it use to be
The trees are filled with liver treats
And tennis balls abound
Chew bones line the walkways
Just waiting to be found.
There even is a ring set up
The grass all lush and green
And everyone who gaits around
Becomes the Best of Breed.
For we're all winners in this place
We have no faults,you see
And God passes out those ribbons
To everyone,even me.
I drink from waters laced with gold
My world a beauty to behold
And wise old dogs do form my pride
To amble at my very side.
At night I sleep in angel's arms
Her wings protecting me
And moonbeams dance about us
As stardust falls on thee.
You picture me as I was on earth
Just before I died
The pain is gone,I am whole again
Filled with Labrador Pride.
So when your life on earth is spent
And you stand at Heaven's gate
Have no fear of loneliness
For here,you know I wait."
